Stop Wobbly Holga Photographs

I’ve noticed that a lot of new Holga users are puzzled by the fact that their Holga photographs seem to be coming out ‘wobbly.’ Don’t worry, there is a very simple explanation for this that can be solved by just flicking a switch.

B setting on Holga Camera

If you turn your Holga over you will notice that there is a switch under the lens, marked with N and B. You need that to be over to the ‘N’ side if you are shooting without a tripod.

The B setting means BULB and when this is activated the shutter on your Holga will stay open for as long as you hold the shutter button down.

The B setting is only used when you have in low light situations, and for this you will need a tripod.

About The Author (me)

Hello, my name is Tom Durkin and I write the content here at Go Holga. I've had a Holga camera since 2005 and I fell in love with big piece of plastic straight away. Recently I realised how easy it was to make my own modifications and decided to show you how to do them via this website. I hope you find it useful.

    Sometimes when I use the bulb mode, I forget to switch it back to the normal mode ^___^;

    love your site…

    this sounds like a crazy question but i recently switched from n to b and back, then had a couple of drinks, and now i’m second guessing myself on what it’s actually on. is it ON “N” when the tab is pushed all the way TO N? or does that mean it’s on “B”? this seems counter-intuitive but sometimes when the open slot is underneath the thing it means it’s on that thing! (example, the aperture setting with the sunny/cloudy)

    the button should be over on what you want the camera to do. near the N for normal and B for bulb.

    The picture at the top shows the camera on normal mode!

    Hope that helps :)
