What Lomography Cameras Do You Own?
July 8th, 2008 by DurkinPosted in Discussion
I often find it interesting to see what path people have taken with Lomography.
I have been fairly tame with my choices of cameras, only investing in two which are my Holga 120n and my 35mm fisheye (which i hardly use.)

What Lomography cameras do you own and why did you buy them? Leave a comment and write about your experiences so that people can take note.

The holga is an awesome camera. Obviously I love it and thats why I made this blog. It taught me a lot about composition and showed me that a good picture is about capturing the right moment and right light.
I advise anyone to get hold of one

Holga 120 CFN
Great fun, probably my fav
Smena Symbol
Ok, works well with BW. Pretty complicated when compared to the Holga 120.
Miranda TM
Technically not a lomo but it looks cool. Found it at a flea market. Yet to run a whole roll through it.
Olympus XA2
Not bad, but I found myself missing the square format when shooting with this.

I also have an XA2 but have never taken the time to run a film through it! Got it from a charity shop for about £3.
I think the next time I get a Holga I will buy the CFN. The flash looks fun
Cheers for the comment!

I have a Holga 120n and love it> Im waiting for a brownie to be delivered. I cant wait to try it out.
I like the simplicity of these cameras and have fun with them. Getting the results back is always like Christmas!!!

The holga 120n is a great little camera. What brownie is it that you have bought? I’ve got the ‘Crespa II.’ Only ever shot one film with it though because I always use my Holga instead!
I want to get one of the old Brownie cameras. One of those ones that just looks like a box with a lens on the front
thanks for the comment by the way!

Aside from my Holga 120 GCFN, I got a Yashica Electro 35 GSN (which, technically, isn’t a lomo cam)

Holga 135
ColorSplash Camera
ColorSplash Flash
Holga 15B Flash
ActionSampler Flash
Pop9
Fisheye II
I have some other toys too, but I didn’t get them from Lomography Society.
Very nice site, by the way. Thanks for running it.

no problem, thanks for leaving a comment.
I also have the fisheye, but I’ve really not used it that much. Just got my hands on a 135bc as well.

I only have a Holga 120 GCFN. It’ gives brilliant sharp results with it’s glass lens and the colour flash is cool. So far I’ve only shot 135 with it.
Non-lomo, I have a Brazilian Kapsa Vascromat, Brownie Six-20 “D”, Vest Pocket camera (the second one), Ilford Sportsman Prontor 125, and a couple on Large format lens/pinholes I’ve made my self.
I’d love to get a LC-A+ RL, but they are really expensive. I also like the look on the Lubitel 166B.
By Durkin on Aug 3, 2008
I have the 166b! If you search this site there is a post with some pictures I have taken with it!
Yeah I would also like an LC-A but they are just way to expensive.
Thanks for the comment, you seem to have some very interesting cameras!

I own a Holga (not had a roll of film developed from it yet).
I also own a Smena Symbol which I can’t seem to get anything from (due to my naievetiy with working with film). Every roll of film I’ve had developed from it has come out blank :/
I hope to get round to learning how to use it someday, I just have no idea what the dial on the back of it does. The manuals I’ve read haven’t really helped either.
By Durkin on Aug 23, 2008
i cant seem to find an image of the back so i can’t help you sorry. I don’t really know why they would keep coming out blank. Maybe they were underexposed, im not sure!
By Adam on Aug 24, 2008
I took a picture of the back to see if that could help (I know I’ve been relying on your help a lot lately and I am grateful!).

Any idea what the numbers mean? I mean the symbols are pretty self-explanatory but I have no idea what the numbers mean.
By Durkin on Aug 25, 2008
the numbers on the outside ring appear to be the film speed. Im guessing that whatever situation you are in lighting wise, you point the film speed at the appropriate image.
i think the number underneath is then the stop that you need to select maybe? can you choose the stop on the lens of the camera?
By Adam on Aug 26, 2008
I don’t think you can change the stop, just the shutter speed.
Although I’ve just noticed something. The numbers that are on the dial on the back are also displayed on the lense of the camera :S

Weird?
By Durkin on Aug 27, 2008
weird! i think i would need to have the camera in my hands to understand it but it does look like f-stop settings. I don’t understand why there is another set of numbers in red to the left though…:s
