places to take your holga

If you can’t think of places to take your Holga then this list will certainly help get your brain jingling!

I feel these are some of the best places to take your Holga.

The Beach
People only ever go to the beach when the weather is good, so that means good news for photographers! You will probably want to pack a few 100 or 125asa films because of the intense light. Anything higher and you risk over exposing. The picture to the right is one I got recently with 400asa. As you can see its a little too black in places.

Parties
There is always loads of stuff going on at parties, and remember. Pictures say 1000 words.

Out Walking

Walking gives you lots of time to stop and compose. Landscape is a great thing to do while walking because its still and time can be taken composing, time which you have.

On a Bike Ride
I’ve recently restored and old bike and I’ve been taking my camera out with me when I ride it. I’ve found it really beneficial because i tend to notice more things around me. I plan on making a mount for it soon. I will post how I did it.

Attractions
Attractions offer hundreds of great photographic opportunities. Theme parks and Zoos are among my favorite places. I suggest taking much film and making sure you have spare batteries and insulation tape.

Markets
Markets are full of colour and there is always stuff going on as well, They are busy environments and many interesting opportunities for street photography can arise.

Gigs
Get some surreal gig photographs in low light situations, or be creative and try your flash with different colored filters. E-mailing bands your photographs is always a great idea if you get some good ones!

On Holiday
A holiday means sunshine and that means getting out and looking around. A foriegn place always offers up interesting buildings and views. Make sure your camera fits in your luggage, and be sure to stock up on film before you go if you don’t know the area. Quite a few times I have been caught short because I couldn’t find anywhere that sold 120 film.

thanks for reading! I have more great posts coming soon.
