My Holga 135bc (Black Corner) has arrived from Hong Kong and looks great! I can’t wait to use it.

Some things I can clear up about the 135BC

The Holga 135BC lets you shoot as many times as you want on a single frame without having to advance.

When you advance, the camera automatically stops when it is at the next frame.

The Holga has a counter on the top to the right.

The viewfinder is dead center, over the lens. I feel this is much better.

There is only one ring for attaching the strap and that is on the left.

The camera has a tripod mount in the center at the bottom.

The Holga 135bc has a rewind button on the base, so there is no need for a dark room or dark bag when you need to wind it back in.

Like all other Holgas, the 135bc has two aperture settings, and a N and B setting on the base of the lens.

The focusing ring is the same as the Holga 120 camears.

Does the Aperture switch even work on these or is it the same deal as the 120 series?

Ive been thinking about that as well. I think that the different format of film might mean that it makes more of a difference, but I can’t be sure. Maybe that is something i can try out when I eventually get round to actually shooting with the camera heh.

    cheers for the comment!

I just got my holga 135bc a couple of days ago. I have been snapping shots throughout my day. Question, the shutter is manual, and for how long should I hold down the button when I snap a shot? I come from the digital world where you hold down the button until the camera does its business, and so I think I am pressing and releasing too slowly; and since I realize that I do that, I am pressing and releasing quicker to compensate for my digital habit — but maybe I am releasing toooooo quickly now. Anyone have a good rule of thumb for snapping shots?

hi, if you have the switch under the lens to N, then it doesn’t matter how long you hold the shutter down for because it opens AND closes on the way down. If you set the lens to B (bulb) then it will stay open for as long as you hold it. When doing this you should use a tripod though otherwise you will get blurring!

durkin, i didn’t know that it opened and closed on one press. i couldn’t hear it, so i just assumed. thanks for the heads up.

i had opportunity to use the b setting last night. i put the holga on a tripod and took portraits of my friends lounging about. i tried to be reeeeeeeally steady while i was holding the button down. we’ll see if it worked.

so, the pressure is on. i have to get good at using my holga fast. i have the photo deadline on friday for my 15 minutes of fame. advocate is putting a short story about me in an upcoming october issue and i need to take photos of myself in my surroundings. i am going to send them holga shots after i have the prints put on cd. wish me luck!

oh btw, durkin, i wonder if your holga came from the same place mine did. your 135bc packaging looks different than mine. i don’t have that yellow uei sticker on the front right and mine came in a small blue box, not a pink one, and there was no automatic shutter release cable for free.

i’m totally obsessed with this camera.

I just got mine from ebay, i have no idea why it has that little yellow sticker on it but i think it looks pretty cool :)

yeah its a great camera, im having some problems with the shutter at the moment, but i reckon i should be able to fix it,

thanks for leaving a comment :)
