The Blackbird Fly 135 Twin Reflex

Here at Go Holga sometimes we spread our wings a little, and delve deeper into the plastic depths of the toy camera world.

Coming soon to shops (and most likely the lomography website) is the Blackbird, Fly 135 Twin Reflex made by a company called Superheadz. Boy does it look cool…

Unlike most twin reflex cameras, this one shoots a square format on 35mm film, hens the name, the 135. This will save a lot of money at the lab which is brilliant for film enthusiasts.

The only downside at the moment seems to be the price. Apparently its going to be somewhere in the region of £100/£50, so start saving now!

The official website currently has little on it: http://www.superheadz.com/bbf/

Artpunk has done a useful video that takes you around the camera and its features.

Wow, looks great, but the sample photos in that video aren’t very inspiring.

Also, they weren’t square format… If I get one I might mask it to make it square.

Apparently there is a mask or setting that allows you to take square pictures on 35mm film. Yeah I agree the pictures in that video are not that brilliant but I thought it was good for showing the features in a bit more detail.

    cheers for the comment!

    Looks so cool :-)

Pity about the price. No way I’d fork out those bucks for a plastic “toy” made in China.

yeah i agree, its a bit expensive for a piece of plastic! hopefully it will come down in price a little when it gets on the market properly

    cheers for the comment

i’d love to give it a try. it’s a pity you can only find scraps of information in the web, and the manufacturer is quite enigmatic about the release date:-(

yeah its a shame, hopefully once its released more information will be availible!

    cheers for the comment

Ooooh it looks pretty! Not sure about the sample photos either. Be interesting to see more once it launched. I must resist the temptation to splurge on looks alone!

I also will have to do the same haha. I’ve been buying cameras none stop since i started full time work. I should really save for uni.

wow, Tom, from the looks of the video, it’s quite intricately made. i can understand a little as to why it’s so pricey. 50 pounds? what’s that, about 100 bucks in the states?

  13. Durkin Left on Sep 8, 2008

    Yeah its about $100.

It does look well made, and the though of 36 square format pictures on one film is brilliant :D
