My Holga on the Beach

I thought that a nice way to start Go Holga, would be to post some of my favorite pictures that I have taken with the camera. Although a lot of people say that the Holga is overpriced and just a gimmick, I really do like the characteristics of the photographs that it takes. Here are a few examples of what it can do.

I felt that i got some really powerful colours in these shots, and i really liked the Vignetting that I got too.

Please leave a comment and let me know what you think of them. I would also like some constructive criticism. Thanks!

About The Author (me)

Hello, my name is Tom Durkin and I write the content here at Go Holga. I've had a Holga camera since 2005 and I fell in love with big piece of plastic straight away. Recently I realised how easy it was to make my own modifications and decided to show you how to do them via this website. I hope you find it useful.

Holgas seem to like portraits, as they’re usually shot from an optimal distance for that fixed-focus lens. My Holga happens to love them when the subject is ever so slightly to the right of dead center, as that’s where the “sweet spot” is in her lens.

Depending on the lighting and the location, you can get some really moody effects out of a Holga portrait.

What film did you use for these? Did you do cross-processing?

I didn’t no, I believe it was 200asa fuji colour film. I’ve never managed to achieve the same amount of vignetting since :(

    thank you for the comment!
